Body image, looked at broadly, encompasses not only our relationship to our physical body but also our relationship to our emotions and thoughts. As in most of my work, I am interested in the perceived contradictions that exist in our perceptions of our selves and our experiences.
The Sum of One’s Life looks at the collection of emotion over time and what that collection might look like within our bodies or manifested in the world. These “bags” are emotional images we carry with us through our lives. They are both oddly beautiful and grotesque at the same time- much the way our relationship to our body and mind is often full of similar contradictions.
